Corning Gilbert introduces a new generation of high performance compression “F” connectors designed specifically for plenum cable. The GAF-UR-11-PL design is focused around easier installation onto typically hard jacketed plenum cables. A new system of connector installation, including both connector and tools, was developed to ease installation. This is accomplished by a combination of a pop out pin and a threaded connector post.
When shipped, the connector pin is retracted to protect it from the rigors of shipping and handling. As the connector is threaded onto the cable, the connector pin extends to its full protrusion. The connector pin is visible in a “viewing window” in the installation tool. When the pin is visible in the “viewing window”, the connector is fully seated onto the cable.
Installation aids such as the GF-TOOL-1/4H can be used with a cordless screwdriver to speed installation. A rotating contact design (patent pending) does not damage the center conductor of the cable as the connector is rotated.
